BG Consultants, Inc. is searching for a qualified Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing Engineer to support our growing MEP Department. Successful candidates should be familiar with basic design concepts and construction detailing related to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and must be able to coordinate with other disciplines in providing complete and coordinated designs. The individual filling position must work in either our Lawrence or Manhattan office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems for various project types
- Research and apply applicable codes and standards
- Model HVAC systems and calculate heating and cooling loads
- Perform lighting photometric and electrical loading calculations
- Select and specify equipment and fixtures
- Create construction drawings using AutoCAD and Revit
- Assist in construction cost estimating
- Collaborate in preparing technical specifications
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a B.S. Degree in an appropriate field of study from an accredited college is required
- Prior experience is not required; however, 2-6 years of experience is preferred
- Must be eligible to take or have already passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam
- Professional Engineering licensure is preferred but not required
- Ability to work independently and with others, with supervision commensurate with experience level
- Strong customer service and organizational skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards is strongly preferred
- Ability to coordinate multiple assignments and manage time and workload appropriately
