Aaron’s, a national rent-to-own chain store, wanted to locate a store in Manhattan, Kansas. Schultz Construction enlisted BG Consultants to design a new facility in the Heritage Commons development. After receiving the typical plans from Aaron’s corporate headquarters, BG worked closely with both the franchise owner and the contractor to develop plans that would fulfill the local and site needs, as well as all design and special requirements of the franchising company.
The new building is an 8,000 square foot facility, eighty percent of which is dedicated to showroom space. With the building located near Highway 24, it was decided that the front façade would face the highway instead of the development’s access road. As a result, BG worked with the city’s code and zoning departments to resolve local requirements for signage at the road access.
The open floor plan of the showroom is punctuated by various partitions around the perimeter for product staging. BG translated all special franchise finish requirements, including specific painting requirements, onto the construction documents to ensure compliance with the corporation obligations while still accommodating the contractor’s budget.
