Emporia New Water Tower

Emporia, KS

BG Consultants completed a water system evaluation which included water usage and analysis, field testing and calibration for a localized water model.  BG also completed a sanitary sewer capacity evaluation for the Industrial Park III area for increased flow and available capacity which included flow monitoring.  This project was spearheaded by a large industrial development coming into the area.

The project included the design of:

  • A new 1.0 MG 200’ tall Composite Elevation Water Tower which includes design for re-chlorination and water analysis
  • 8,000 LF of new 16” Water Transmission Line through residential areas and within Industrial Park III
  • 17 – 16” butterfly valves
  • 12- Fire hydrants

Project will provide increased water pressure and flow in the southeast portion of the City. This will also provide additional elevated storage capacity within the City of Emporia’s overall water system, which is a real need within the community. Evaluation of existing utility capacities and proposed improvements provided the initial guidance for funding and design.

The City of Emporia received an EDA grant for $1,341,000 to help fund the project.
