When the existing tracks at Susan B. Anthony and Eisenhower Middle Schools were experiencing major cracks in the asphalt, USD 383 commissioned BG Consultants to design the necessary improvements. The cracks were too large to correct by crack sealing. A geotechnical investigation was performed by Terracon, in which new pavement recommendations were made.

BG Consultants used these recommendations to prepare a design for the track improvements. BG Designed the site layout and grading plan for six-lane tracks at both middle schools. The new tracks were constructed with four inches of asphalt on top of six inches of AB-3 sub grade. Concrete edge curbs flush with the tracks were designed on the inside and outside edges.

BG Consultants also assisted with construction administration, leading the pre-construction conference, performing periodic observations of the work in process, and reviewing the contractor’s shop drawings.
