Waters True Value Addition

Manhattan, KS

Waters True Value purchased an existing lumber store on the west side of Manhattan and remodeled it for their purposes. In 2008, two years after moving in, their facility was destroyed by a tornado. BG Consultants was initially consulted to design a new 100’ x 88’ pre-engineered metal building on the site of the former store. The new building would serve as a Rental Center while the lumber store moved to the east side of town.

In 2013, BG Consultants was contracted to design an addition the south half of the building so that the store could move back to their original location and have the Rental Center and store in one location. A 17,900 square foot space was created for the hardware store and the Rental Center was relocated to the existing warehouse on site. The existing endwall and columns were removed to accommodate the 9,070 square foot addition. The fully sprinklered pre-engineered metal building has an occupancy of 585 people and a new airlock entrance. A small storage building was also added behind the store.
