BG Consultants assisted Baldwin City with concept planning, project budgeting, grant application, design, bidding and construction phase services for a multi-site sidewalk improvement project to complete several looped connections for accessible sidewalk improvements along the City’s designated Safe Routes to School. Funding assistance was secured through the federally funded Transportation Alternatives program administered by the KDOT.
BG Consultants was contracted to design the expansion of Clarenburg Trail to an 8’ wide trail on the east side of City Park, extending south of Fremont Street to the intersection of Poyntz Avenue. The trail deviates from the previous alignment, staying within 11th Street and connecting to Johnny Kaw Plaza. The new trail includes ADA accessible ramps and crosswalk pavement markings at the intersection of 11th Street/Osage Street and 11th Street/Leavenworth Street. A new raised crosswalk was installed for the trail as it crosses the East City Park Road.
